West Wind Lakes Skate Park Kendell

Here is the rest of Sugar's Drop Shop Best Trick Contest that took place at Westwind Lakes Skatepark.  We're pretty sure Josia Gatlyn placed first again.  There were a few new faces out for this contest that definitely showed some great tricks.  We'd also like to congratulate Mike Schmidt for placing 1st in Skatepark of Tampa's recent contest.

Sugar's Drop Shop Skateboard Rodeo

Rabid Rabbit Studio attended Sugar's Drop Shop's 1st Annual Skateboard Rodeo.  Besides the brutal heat and lack of big clouds, it was a very successful event.  Today's contests included a seemingly "unofficial" highest ollie contest and best trick for beginner, intermediate, and advanced.  A lot of familiar faces were seen including Ramps N Rails' crew of skaters.  All and all, it was a fun day with some great skating!  Still working on editing more pictures, but here is a taste.  Come back for more!

        

Of course, don't forget....tomorrow....National Go Skateboarding Day!!!  Tentatively, we're heading to downtown Miami during the morning to shoot with Spencila.  Later on, Hollywood's free skatepark is holding their own best trick contest.  The contest starts around 6 or 7.  It is free to enter and the winner/s is walking away with a deck and some new wheels.  If we have the energy, you will see us there.

Skateboard Contests this Weekend

So there's 2 contests for this upcoming weekend.  Sugars Drop Shop is holding their 1st annual Skateboard Rodeo.  It is going to be a three day event starting on June 18th and going through June 20.  It sounds like its going to be a great time.  There are numerous contests going on like best trick, game of SKATE, bungee skateboard drag racing?!?, and highest ollie contest.  After you compete, they have a bunch more to do at this "Rodeo" including a mechanical bull, a paint ball shooting gallery, an art exhibit, a BBQ, a punk rock flea market, a hot rod car show, and skate demos.  This definitely sounds like the place to be this weekend, so we will be there at the Westwind Lakes Skate Park.

On Florida's other coast, Skatepark of Tampa is doing it up this Saturday with their Skhools Out Jam.  This all ages contest is $20 to enter and $25 to enter the day of the contest.  They have prizes for each division for 1st through 5th place.  The 1st place winner 9-12 sponsored wins an ipod nano.  Don't miss out on their free BBQ and product toss.  This contest is bound to be a great one.
